Okay. I never cook. Ever. And even if I attempt to make something, I end up forgetting an ingredient, or burning something. It always turns out baaad baaaad.

But all that changed today!
I made a meal! It turned out delicious! I'm jumping for joy! No, really. I am.

Tom always cooks our meals and I always feel extremely guilty about it. I decided that I needed to try (for the millionth time) to make dinner.

I found this recipe online and went with it. It turned out delicious!! I had never had Quinoa before and since I don't eat meat, it is supposed to be a staple in vegetarian diets. I will definitely be making it more often and am looking forward to using it different ways.

New Beginnings

It is time for this blog of mine to become a little more exciting!

New posts, new ideas. Outfits, recipes, hair ideas..and loads more.

It will be great, just stick with me!

For today, I thought I would share some of my personal info, and we can go from there.

I am 24 years old and I am a hairstylist in Iowa. I live in Illinois and I travel over the great Mississippi River everyday to go to work. But don't worry, it's only like a 10 minute commute. Haha.
I really enjoy my job. Making people feel good about their hair, and self, is very rewarding.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend Tom, my cute little dog Oscar, and my beautiful mother and sister. Besties.


I also enjoy getting dressed! I love clothing and I feel like my personal style is super duper random. I don't really buy into the trendy clothing everyone else chooses. I just like what I like. New, vintage, it's all great to me.
I've always enjoyed writing, so here I get to write whatever I want, however I want. My whole life I have always been very quiet and shy. So expressing myself through writing makes it way easy to say what I want to say.

So here I am. Random and awkward.

New again

Wow! I am terrible at keeping this up!
I decided, again, that I really am going to try posting to this daily. Maybe.

FLARED JEANS ARE BACK! I cannot hold in my excitement! I was in love with flares back in high school and I still love them! Very flattering when paired with some type of heel/clog/wedge, and a loose blouse tucked in! Love!


Michelle Williams, in my book, never does wrong! This is such a cute and casual outfit! I love the shoes and bag! And jean jackets are, still, super in!



This color is amazing! This would be such a good color to transition from summer to fall because it is still a lighter shade of copper/red!

spring is near!

The weather today is so nice! It makes me realize that spring is FINALLY on it's way!
Hopefully this means no more snow!

I have been having a lovely day off today. I went and got coffee with a friend, and now I am waiting to pick up my niece from school. I love spending time with that cute little girl!

If anyone is looking for a good book to read, I have just the book!
I have read this book probably 4 or 5 times now. Every time I read it, I get sucked in. It really is a great book. It's called How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie Debartolo. Read it!!

I am pretty boring today.

I'm trying..

I am trying to keep this up, and alas I didn't post yesterday. Oh well.

Did anyone catch the Oscars last night? I, of course, did. Tom and I always have an Oscars Poll and guess who will win each category. I was victorious..as usual. He did give me a run for my money when we watched the Globes though..

I thought the hair was actually very good this year. Last year everything was frizzy and huge. And I usually love frizzy and huge, but for some reason it didn't work last year.

This year everything seemed very smooth and polished. Lots of retro waves and classic updo's.

Yikes. It's been a while..

Greetings..

I have not blogged in a very long time! How lazy of me..
I suppose it's because my life is pretty dang boring!

Hmm..let's see..


Work is very good. I was moved up to Senior in November-ish, so that has been awesome. My clients are all amazing, and I am steadily building up a clientele that I am very proud of. Once again, my clients are amazing. Crazy to think that I have been there for just about 3 1/2 years..it seems like just yesterday I was wrapping perms on mannequins at Capri. And can I just say, that I work with some of the best ladies ever! It is so nice that we are such a family there!


Tom is great. We just celebrated a great Valentine's Day together. He made me a delicious dinner, got me beautiful flowers, and we drank wine and watched The Rocky Horror Picture Show. All in all it was a lovely night!


At the moment, I am sitting here drinking some Moscato and watching Oscar freak out over this bone I bought him. Tom is off working on the race car, so I am just home relaxing tonight.

I decided to partake in this little daily post. So..

Day 01- A picture of yourself with 10 facts.



1) I am insanely close with my Mom, sister, and Granny. I would do anything at all for them!

2) My boyfriend is my favorite! He has been with me through so much! I just love his ass to pieces..

3) This is an obvious one. My dog Oscar is the cutest little pup you ever did see! I am a little too obsessed with him, but hey, at least I admit it!

4) I am a very shy and awkward person. Put me in a room full of strangers, and I become a wallflower.

5) I have a bit of an unhealthy obsession with Dawson's Creek. You know the TV show that was on in the late 90's/ early 2000's? The one that kicked major ass? That's the one!

6) I am a huge movie buff. I love movies. And I will also dominate you in movie trivia. My brain seems to remember the randomest facts about movies, instead of remembering to lock the back door before I leave for work.

7) I am a gamer. I like video games. Yes, I am a girl. Deal with it.

8) I have always wanted to cut my hair into a Mia Farrow esque pixie cut. It will happen someday.

9) 80 percent of my wardrobe is from Urban Outfitters. The other 20? Target.

10) Cheese sandwiches are my favorite thing to eat. YUM!

summer time.

Time is going by too quickly for my liking. I can't believe that it is almost July already..yikes..where has the time gone?
And if it is almost July, then that means it is almost my birthday. The big 2-3. When did I become an adult?
Summer days of doing nothing make my mind wander..
I've been dissecting my life lately. The future. If the decisions I have made are the right ones. It is exhausting.
Along with the over-thinking, I have also been trying to become more active. Running, Yoga, etc. Maybe I should take advantage of that gym membership I shell out 30 bucks a month for..
Tom and I have been contemplating buying my mom's house from her. It is the one we have been living in for the past 4 years and I think that all it's creaky, old charm has been making an impression on Tom. I love the house and I think that it has such potential. So we are thinking..
Speaking of Tom..

He is the most kind, amazing person I have ever met. We just celebrated our 5 year anniversary on June 1st. Five years...man. I'd just like to reiterate the whole where has the time gone question..
I'm pretty proud that we have been together for so long though. I mean we started dating when I was 17..
and I love the fact that we have never broken up, or taken a break, or cheated on each other, or any of that nonsense.
I guess to sum it up..he is a pretty great guy :) and I feel extremely lucky.

well I'll quit my rambling. Gonna go soak up some sun and bury my nose in a book.
