a lovely weekend and some outfits

This weekend really flew by..how insane that August is almost over!
But September is one of my FAVORITE months so keep on flying by August!

My weekend was pretty uneventful, but sometimes those are the best weekends. No plans. Being able to do whatever you please..ahh. Love it.

I worked Friday and Saturday at the salon and it was really busy with back to school haircuts and what not. Last night, Tom and I went out to dinner at Granite City. I love when we have nice dinners out together. Chatting with him is the best :)

Today was mostly spent with my cute little Mama. We went into the salon so I could color her hair before school starts for her tomorrow. Then lunch, and a trip to Sam's Club. That place is amazing. So much stuff!
They have a powder Green Tea mix that I loooove, and I can't ever find it anywhere else..so off to Sam's I go.

I have a day off tomorrow so I am going to try and get some cleaning done (yay) and cook up a yummy dinner.

anyways, here are some outfits from this weekend.

until next time!

feels like fall

The weather here in Illinois/Iowa today was super lovely.
I spent most of it indoors doing some hair..but every chance I got, I peeped my little head out our break room door and just took it all in.

It totally got me in the mood for fall. I will more than likely fall asleep tonight dreaming of Pumpkin Spice Latte's from Starbucks and the smell of burning leaves.
Am I such a weirdo to love that smell? Hm..

Anyways, here are a few pictures from my day today.

Any of you looking forward to fall?

Until next time.

Susie Homemaker

Okay. I never cook. Ever. And even if I attempt to make something, I end up forgetting an ingredient, or burning something. It always turns out baaad baaaad.

But all that changed today!
I made a meal! It turned out delicious! I'm jumping for joy! No, really. I am.

Tom always cooks our meals and I always feel extremely guilty about it. I decided that I needed to try (for the millionth time) to make dinner.

I found this recipe online and went with it. It turned out delicious!! I had never had Quinoa before and since I don't eat meat, it is supposed to be a staple in vegetarian diets. I will definitely be making it more often and am looking forward to using it different ways.

Quinoa Stuffed Peppers

You can find the recipe on Vegetarian Times.

Hooray for cooking! Hooray for non-burned food! Hooray for Quinoa!

Okay..I'm off to cut Tom's hair.
Until next time.

New Beginnings

It is time for this blog of mine to become a little more exciting!

New posts, new ideas. Outfits, recipes, hair ideas..and loads more.

It will be great, just stick with me!

For today, I thought I would share some of my personal info, and we can go from there.

I am 24 years old and I am a hairstylist in Iowa. I live in Illinois and I travel over the great Mississippi River everyday to go to work. But don't worry, it's only like a 10 minute commute. Haha.
I really enjoy my job. Making people feel good about their hair, and self, is very rewarding.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend Tom, my cute little dog Oscar, and my beautiful mother and sister. Besties.

I also enjoy getting dressed! I love clothing and I feel like my personal style is super duper random. I don't really buy into the trendy clothing everyone else chooses. I just like what I like. New, vintage, it's all great to me.
I've always enjoyed writing, so here I get to write whatever I want, however I want. My whole life I have always been very quiet and shy. So expressing myself through writing makes it way easy to say what I want to say.

So here I am. Random and awkward.

Stay tuned lovely readers..it's about to get AWESOME!

Until next time.

New again

Wow! I am terrible at keeping this up!
I decided, again, that I really am going to try posting to this daily. Maybe.

That being said, here are some pictures that have inspired me! Hopefully they inspire you right back!

FLARED JEANS ARE BACK! I cannot hold in my excitement! I was in love with flares back in high school and I still love them! Very flattering when paired with some type of heel/clog/wedge, and a loose blouse tucked in! Love!

Michelle Williams, in my book, never does wrong! This is such a cute and casual outfit! I love the shoes and bag! And jean jackets are, still, super in!

This color is amazing! This would be such a good color to transition from summer to fall because it is still a lighter shade of copper/red!

That's all folks!
Until next time!

spring is near!

The weather today is so nice! It makes me realize that spring is FINALLY on it's way!
Hopefully this means no more snow!

I have been having a lovely day off today. I went and got coffee with a friend, and now I am waiting to pick up my niece from school. I love spending time with that cute little girl!

If anyone is looking for a good book to read, I have just the book!
I have read this book probably 4 or 5 times now. Every time I read it, I get sucked in. It really is a great book. It's called How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie Debartolo. Read it!!

I am pretty boring today.

Until next time.
